Outliers is a new feature on Unmetric Analyze that shows you the content that stands out and rises above the social media noise. It’s located on the homepage under a tab named Outliers. We determine a piece of content as an Outlier based on a variety of unique factors like a surge in publishing frequency, interactions etc. As of now, we are identifying Outliers for content published on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Methodology: how do we determine if a piece of content is an Outlier?
Here’s how we do it. We start by collecting all the posts from a brand in the past 12 weeks. Then we get the 90 percentile value of the metric we’re tracking like Likes, Comments, Retweets etc and then we multiply the value by a factor of 2. The result will be the threshold for that metric, therefore if a post has a metric with a value above the threshold, it will be considered an outlier.
The Outliers you first see are for the past 7 days - we show 15 Outliers in total. Scroll down and click ‘Load more’ to see them all. After you see the 15 latest Outliers, we will show you the Outliers from the previous 7 days and so on. We update the list every day with more Outliers - the best performing Outlier will be found at the top of the page.
Find the Outliers that work for you
You can get Outliers for any or all the Groups you’re tracking. You can also choose to see only certain Outliers. Click on the dropdown that says ‘Any Outliers’ to choose Groups and specific Outliers for each network. You can also download all the Outliers on screen with a single click.
Dig deep into each Outlier
The tag at the top left corner tells you why they’re considered Outliers. Click on the highlighted words in each Outliers to learn more.
For e.g. the above post has the tag ‘Likes Surge,’ meaning it was considered an Outlier because the post saw far more Likes than any other post this brand has published. The highlighted portion shows that 90% of this brand’s posts in the past 12 weeks have gotten a maximum of 175 Likes. However, this post got 738 Likes, making it an Outlier.
You can then infer more with other factors like the publishing date and time, the content etc.
